Performance requirements of power transformers

The widely adopted new S9 type distribution transformer typically uses 30Z140 high-permeability cold-rolled silicon steel sheets as the magnetic core material. Its saturation magnetic flux density is higher than that of amorphous alloy cores, and the magnetic flux density selected in the product design is usually between 1.65 and 1.75 T. This is a major reason why amorphous alloy core distribution transformers have lower no-load losses than the new S9 type distribution transformers. Table 1 compares the no-load losses of three-phase amorphous alloy core distribution transformers and new S9 type distribution transformers.
